Complete and
Partial Dentures

An Overview
of Dentures

Do you have missing teeth? Then you might want dentures. A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and the surrounding tissue. Made to resemble natural teeth, dentures are common– you probably know people who wear them.

When a person is missing all their teeth, for whatever reason, then they get complete dentures. Otherwise, they get partial dentures. Having a “partial,” as it’s often called, helps fill in the space(s) created by missing teeth. It also prevents other teeth around it from shifting into awkward positions.

While dentures are durable, eventually, after several years, they may need to be remade, repaired or at least readjusted due to normal wear.

Signs You Need Dentures

Are you currently missing two or more teeth? Then you might need dentures. Are you missing all of your teeth? Then you might need complete dentures.

If you’ve been having a hard time chewing and/or digesting food, you should consider dentures.

And if you’ve had a hard time speaking, you might need dentures.

One of the benefits of dentures is that they enhance both your facial tissues and smile. This, in turn, restores a person’s confidence since they look and feel and function better than without dentures.

Make an Appointment Today

If you’re thinking dentures would be a sensible solution to “fixing my missing teeth,” you’re right! Getting dentures involves several appointments over several weeks. Impressions (molds) and measurements need to be taken. Custom dentures need to be made. Of course, your dentist will want to make sure you’re getting dentures that have the right shape, color and fit for your mouth.

Sometimes people don’t want to get dentures because they “make me feel old.” Well, it is true that a lot of older people wear dentures. However, keep in mind that the alternative is difficulty chewing, digesting and speaking, which no one wants to deal with daily.
