Not everyone develops wisdom teeth. Those who do, though, often have them removed. What are some signs you need your wisdom teeth removed?
Tight Fitting
First, you might have little or no room to accommodate your wisdom teeth. They might be growing in wrong/awkward directions, and/or pushing on other teeth to further crowd your mouth in a bad way. Sometimes people get their wisdom teeth removed because those teeth lead to discomfort and/or pain in the mouth and should be taken out– there’s just not enough room in the mouth to accommodate them properly and pain ensues.
Pain as a Signal
Speaking of pain, if you develop pain in your jaw, wisdom teeth which are “impacted,” or growing awkwardly, can cause it. You might have trouble with a stiff jaw or trouble opening your mouth, and that trouble could be related to your wisdom teeth.
Annoyed Sinuses
What about sinus issues? Since your sinuses are close to your upper wisdom teeth, those teeth could be pushing against your sinuses causing sinus pressure, congestion and/or headaches!
Other Issues
Problems can occur with and around wisdom teeth, such as cyst growth, inflammation and infection. Things like this can negatively affect your lymph nodes and lead to frequent sore throats. If you have trouble eating, chewing or talking, you might need to get your wisdom teeth out.
Finally, there’s the issue of bad breath, which could be caused by wisdom teeth. Way back there, it’s harder to clean! Therefore, bacteria can get caught there, and cause problems.
